GOVT’S $20K GRANT SHOWS GROWING COMMITMENT TO THE TOURISM INDUSTRY

Premier and Tourism Minister Dr the Hon. Natalio Wheatley recently issued a $20,000 grant to the BVI Yachting, Hotel & Tourism Association, a move that has shown the Government’s growing commitment to the industry.

This is the view shared by the Interim Executive Director of the BVI Yachting, Hotel & Tourism Association (BVIYHTA) Mrs. Sharon Flax-Brutus who made the comment during a recent appearance on the local radio programme Talking Points.

While expressing that there is a plethora of issues within the tourism industry, she said the grant is an indication that the Government is willing to take the necessary steps to assist in rectifying some of the issues.

Flax-Brutus also said that persons are often clueless about what it takes to have a prosperous tourism industry.

She said there is a need to educate people on how the tourism industry works.

The director also explained the purpose of her association which she said is to have a collective voice for the industry as a means to develop the sector in the right direction.
