On the 18th of July 2023, the British Virgin Islands (BVI) Athletics Association departed the territory with a contingent of nine athletes to represent the Territory at NACAC’s U18 & U23 Championships in Costa Rica. The event is scheduled to take place from the 21st to the 23rd of July.
Team BVI comprises a dynamic group of U18 and U23 athletes.
The U18 team consists of four athletes: Jahkyla Morton, A’Sia McMaster, J Den Jackson, and Jonathan Lynch. Meanwhile, the U23 team boasts the talents of Malik John, Wanyae Belle, Beyonce Defreitas, Akrisa Eristee, and Kimberly Smith.
Notably, Akrisa Eristee, a quarter-miler among the U23 athletes, has already made her mark in previous championships. In 2021, she secured a silver medal at the NACAC U18 Championships, demonstrating her potential to make an impact once again.
The NACAC U18 & U23 Championships will serve as an opportunity for young athletes to showcase their abilities on an international stage, with the meet specifically isolating U18 and U23 competitors. Additionally, U20 athletes will compete separately during the upcoming PanAm U20 championship.
The staff joining the athletes includes coaches Ralston Henry and Jennifer King Grate, Team Manager Stephanie Russ Penn and Physiotherapist Shaun Williams.
284 Media extends its best wishes to Team BVI, hoping for remarkable performances and successful endeavours at NACAC’s U18 & U23 Championships.
