A 2ND GUN AND A LARGE QUANTITY OF AMMO SEIZED – LINKED TO EAST END DRUG BUST

A second firearm and a large quantity of ammunition have been seized by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) in relation to Wednesday’s major drug bust in East End.

The police confirmed this latest development in a media release, stating that the additional firearm and ammunition were found after warrants were executed.

“The RVIPF continues to execute search warrants on various premises in relation to this matter.  A second firearm and a significant amount of ammunition have already been recovered from the land-based searches. No charges have yet been laid in this matter, the RVIPF stated.

“The RVIPF will release more information to the public as soon as it is practicable to do so,” the release added.

During a press conference on Thursday, Commissioner of Police Mark Collins revealed that three locals were in custody following the drug bust.

He said a large quantity of drugs and one firearm were seized during the operation along with the two vessels that are presently undergoing investigations to determine their origin.

“During the operation, officers intercepted a suspicious speed boat off the eastern end of Tortola. Following a high-speed chase, a second vessel attacked the Police vessel but was quickly disabled. Several officers received injuries in the incident,” the RVIPF stated.

The operation was a joint initiative between the RVIPF and the US Customs and Border Protection.
