HON. SMITH & DAWSON AMONG LARGE BVI DELEGATION HEADING TO GUYANA TO ENGAGE IN TRADE TALKS

Deputy Premier and Minister for Financial Services, Labour and Trade, Hon. Lorna Smith will lead a 17-member BVI delegation on a trade mission in Guyana which is aimed at strengthening cooperation and enhancing bilateral trade between the two nations.

The Ministry for Financial Services, Labour and Trade described the mission as ground-breaking and one that will include meetings with the Guyanese government and prominent entrepreneurs within Guyana’s business sector.

“The aim is to foster collaborative opportunities, enhance bilateral trade, and promote mutual economic growth,” the ministry stated.

The BVI team will include a number of prominent business persons in addition to members of the BVI Government and statutory bodies.

Hon. Smith in a media release said she is delighted with the support received from the BVI business community on this venture.

“I am deeply pleased with the overwhelming turnout from our business community, who are making a substantial investment to join this inaugural trade mission to Guyana. Their enthusiasm not only underscores the potential of this venture but also their commitment to forging stronger ties within the Caribbean region,” Smith stated.

“I am profoundly grateful for the welcoming spirit extended by the Guyanese Government towards our delegation.   Their openness and receptivity set a positive tone for our visit and reflect the warm relations between our two countries,” she added.

Also traveling for the trip is the Junior Minister for Agriculture, Hon. Karl Dawson, who is expected to be engaged in meetings focused on agriculture and food security.

“These discussions explore potential partnerships and strategies to boost the BVI’s food security, leveraging Guyana’s agricultural expertise,” the ministry stated.
