Bishop John Cline is calling on residents to take back the emancipation village.
Bishop Cline made the plea during the Emancipation Service on Sunday, labelling the current state of affairs of the emancipation village as concerning, as the activities are moving away from the traditional practices.
The bishop said the change from the traditional celebrations are linked to the new mindset of residents and called for a return to a more respectable standard.
The recent confirmation by Premier Dr. the Hon. Natalio Wheatley that his Government has invested $1 million into the 2023 BVI festivals has left Bishop Cline with several questions.
One such question by the bishop is where are the pictures of the heroes of the territory in the festival village?
Bishop Cline also questioned the absence of schools partaking in this year’s emancipation activities, stating that in the past schools performed activities such as skits.
