THE BVI IS EVALUATING SHRIMP PRODUCTION

The Government of the Virgin Islands has begun discussions with various stakeholders regarding the possibility of producing shrimp in the territory.

The Junior Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, Dr. the Hon. Karl Dawson, made the announcement during a press conference on Tuesday.

He said the idea is part of the government’s plan to discover innovative solutions that will improve the BVI’s blue economy in a sustainable manner.

While not going into detail about the project, Dr. Dawson did reveal that once it gets the green light, it will likely be conducted at the private sector level, with minimal government involvement.
