THE VISBA FASTPITCH LEAGUE PLAYOFFS CONTINUE THIS WEEKEND

Power Outage and Sparks will be aiming to book their flights to the finals of the 2023 Virgin Islands Softball-Baseball Association’s National Fastpitch Softball League when the playoff series continues this evening in their respective divisions.

In the men’s division, Power Outage is leading their 3-game series against VG Heat 1-0, after enjoying a 9-3 victory in Game 1 last Saturday.

Game 2 of that series commences this evening at the E. Walwyn Brewley Ball Park in a must-win game for VG Heat if they are to force a Game 3 this Sunday.

That game is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.

In the other men’s game, the defending champions Pirates and Storm are head-to-head in their series which is presently tied 1-1.

Last Friday, the Pirates defeated Storm in Game 1 of their series 8-1, but Storm returned the favour in Game 2 with a similar 8-1 victory to level the series.

Their deciding game is scheduled to be played on Saturday at 8:15 p.m.

Meanwhile, in the women’s division, Sparks will be hoping for a repeat performance against the West End Warriors, after defeating them in a nail-biting runs-fest last Saturday.

After trailing by 8 runs (10-2) at the end of the third inning, the Sparks delivered at the top of the fourth inning managing 12 runs, to gain a four-point lead.

The Warriors regained the lead at the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Sparks delivered in the final two innings to gain a marginal lead that they sustained, to edge the Warriors 22-21.

Game 2 of their series will be played this evening at 6:00 p.m.

In the other women’s series, the defending champions Synergy will be aiming to seal their series against the Lady Wings after easing to a 20-3 victory in Game 1 last Sunday.

Game 2 is scheduled to be played at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
