Kyron McMaster will be eyeing a podium finish when he competes in the final of the Men’s 400-Metre Hurdles at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary on Wednesday.
He will be up against the world number one ranked Karsten Warholm of Norway who is also the Olympic champion and world record holder, as well as the likes of Brazilian Alison Dos Santos, who was recently ranked as the world number two in the Men’s 400-Metre Hurdles.
Of the finalists, McMaster has the third fastest season best time of 47.26 seconds, behind American Rai Benjamin’s time of 46.62 seconds and Warholm’s 46.51 seconds.
In the semi-finals, McMaster entered his heat as the clear favourite and delivered on the expectations, winning the race with an impressive time of 47.72 seconds.
Second place went to Rasmus Magi of Estonia who ran 48.30 seconds to also qualify for the finals, while American CJ Allen placed third but missed out on the final, and finished in 48.44 seconds.
The final is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, August 23, at 3:50 p.m. BVI time.
