WILL PIRATES & SYNERGY DEFEND THEIR TITLES OR WILL POWER OUTAGE & SPARKS CAUSE UPSETS

Will the reigning champions Synergy and Pirates successfully defend their titles in the 2023 National Fastpitch League Championships or will Sparks and Power Outage deliver upsets in the women’s and men’s divisions respectively to be crowned the new champions?

That question will be answered in the upcoming days as the best-of-five series commence this evening at the E. Walwyn Brewley Ball Park in Road Town, Tortola.

The first championship match will see the undefeated Synergy taking on Sparks at 6:30 p.m.

The two-time reigning champs Synergy defeated Lady Wings in the playoffs 2-0 to reach the championships and will be aiming for a three-peat if they successfully defeat newcomers Sparks.

Sparks was the first of the women’s team to make it to the championships after West End Warriors forfeited the deciding game of the playoff series due to medical emergencies.

Meanwhile in the men’s division, Pirates defeated Storm 13-3 last Saturday via mercy rule to win the best of 3 playoff series 2-1.

Here’s a look at the winning moments of that game.

Pirates Levron Sarauw who hit two home runs in the game as well as Captain Devon Bedford spoke to Andre “Shadow” Dawson following the win.

Power Outage swept VG Heat in their series 2-0 to be first of the men’s team to head to the championships.

Dawson also caught up with Power Outage to get their take on their journey to the finals.

Both the Pirates and Power Outage each have three titles with Pirates winning in 2015, 2016 and 2022, while Power Outage rose to victory in 2017, 2020 and 2021.

Their best of 5 playoff series will commence at 8:45 p.m.
