ASPHALT PLANT TEST RUNS TO OCCUR THIS WEEK

The Public Works Department will commence several tests on their asphalt plant this week.

This comes after the delay of the commissioning of the asphalt plant from the July 31, 2023 date due to a number of last-minute requirements that were brought to the attention of the director of the Public Works Department.

Public Works Director Jeremy Hodge confirmed that the technician from AMMANN – the company responsible for manufacturing the plant – is in the territory assessing the asphalt plant and conducting training sessions.

Hodge said during the technician’s brief visit, a number of test runs of the plant will be conducted to ensure the plant is operating as intended.

He also revealed that the rehabilitation of the road from Paraquita Bay to Hodge’s Creek Marina is one of the first major projects that his department will be using the plant to restore.

Hodge also explained why that particular road was selected, stating it was partly because of the sewerage works being conducted in East End.

The director also said that the heavily criticized roads will soon be addressed.
