Olympian and two-time Commonwealth Games champion Kyron McMaster has dedicated his first World Athletics Championships medal to his mother Joycelyn McMaster.
The World Championships medal is one that Kyron was chasing for more than half a decade and he finally achieved that goal after placing second in the final of the Men’s 400-Metre Hurdles event in Budapest, Hungary.
The medal also placed Kyron as the first athlete from the British Virgin Islands to achieve an Outdoor World Championships medal.
Speaking in an interview following the historic moment Kyron said his mother deserved the medal for playing a vital role in his athletic career since the very beginning.
Kyron also said that seeing his mother on the sideline following his silver medal performance touched him in a very significant way.
