Following the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Eslyn Henley Richiez Learning Centre, Minister for Education the Honourable Sharie De Castro, Project Architect Lavina Liburd and CDB Contract Supervisor, Project Manager from the RDA Sergio Dantas sat for a discussion with the Government Information Services to discuss some of the details of the project.
As she reflected on the significance of the project, Minister De Castro said it’s completion will be a milestone in Education for the BVI and the wider Caribbean region.
Liburd explained that this unique project boasts several specifications to ensure that it is a well-fitted facility for the Centre’s students.
Dantas and Liburd also highlighted that the conceptualisation and design of the facility were research-driven.
Liburd noted that a significant number of discussions took place with local stakeholders.
Liburd also stressed that despite input from international consultants, the project needed to be adapted to fit the specific needs and circumstances present in the Territory.
