RVIPF ISSUE APOLOGY FOR TRAFFIC DELAYS THIS MORNING

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has issued a public apology for the traffic delays experienced this morning in the vicinity of the Elmore Stoutt High School, after residents took to social media to voice their discontent with the long traffic lines.

According to the police, the delays were due to the temporary traffic rerouting which was placed for the resumption of the 2023-2024 school year.

In a statement to the media on Monday, the RVIPF said, “We understand the inconvenience and the need for further assessments to bring about a much smoother flow of traffic, where the public will be informed prior to any proposed traffic implementation. We appreciate your understanding, cooperation, and feedback. Your safety remains our top priority.”

The Ministry of Education also issued a statement on the matter, revealing that officials were unaware of the adjustment to traffic in the area.

“In recognising that Ministry officials were unaware, and no public advisory was issued, the Ministry immediately contacted the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) to ascertain why the traffic adjustments were made,” the ministry stated.

It added, “The RVIPF has since notified the Ministry that this matter has been addressed.”
