TEACHERS UNION HEAD NOT COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH THE PREMIER’S RESPONSE FOLLOWING STRIKE

President of the BVI Teacher’s Union, Mr. Sean Henry, said he is not totally satisfied with the premier’s discussion with teachers last Friday, following the decision by teachers of the Elmore Stoutt High School to strike due to prolonged issues.

284 Media caught up with President Henry following the strike.

When asked by the media whether he was satisfied with the dialogue between Premier Dr. the Honourable Natalio Wheatley and the teachers during the strike, Henry replied that he was not totally satisfied, considering that the issues listed have persisted for far too long.

Henry also updated the media on what led to the teachers making the collective decision to sit out of classes on the first week of the 2023-2024 school year.

He also detailed some of the issues listed by the teachers.

Meanwhile, Premier Wheatley said he was unaware of some of the issues that were brought to his attention during the discussion and expressed that he plans to address the issues “expeditiously”.

Teachers were instructed by the premier to note down all of the issues in writing and he promised that he will seek to have them addressed once they have travelled through the necessary channels.
