TALK IS CHEAP! WALWYN TELLS PREMIER TO ACT ON FORGOING GREEDY BILL BENEFITS

Representative for the 6th District the Honourable Myron Walwyn has called on Premier Dr the Honourable Natalio Wheatley to act on his promise to forgo the benefits that he is due under the controversial Retiring Allowances (Legislative Service) Act.

While the contentious sections were repealed in the House of Assembly on Tuesday, clause 4 of the bill made it so members who are already benefiting from the bill or in line to do so in future, including the Premier,  would not have their right to associated payments affected. Instead, they have the option to relinquish those benefits in writing should they choose.

And while the Premier has promised on multiple occasions to forgo his due benefits, Walwyn says “talk is cheap, money buy land” – it is time to put it in writing.
