3 GUNS RECOVERED DURING ROUTINE PATROLS IN EAST END

Three unidentified males evaded police presence on Thursday night in the East End area of Tortola but left behind a bag containing three illegal firearms which were recovered by the law enforcement officers.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) confirmed the incident in a media statement, stating that the incident occurred while conducting routine patrols in the Lambert Estate area.

It was then that police said three males were observed in hoodies heading in the direction of His Majesty’s Prison, behaving suspiciously.

“Upon seeing the officers, the men fled on foot and as a result a chase ensued, but they managed to evade the officers. During the chase, a bag was discarded by one of the suspects which revealed three firearms. One semi-automatic weapon and two pistols were recovered,” the RVIPF stated.

Police said the recent recovery brings the total number of firearms seized in September to five.

“The police remain resolute in their commitment to recovering illegal firearms and apprehending individuals found in possession of such weapons,” the RVIPF added.
