One Love FC is the first team to make the inaugural Emmett Caines Knockout Cup final after securing a bye following their 5-0 victory against Positive FC in the semi-final.
Among the scoresheet for One Love in the preseason competition were Jahari Lacey, Jhon Samuel, Shayne Prince, Alcise Savery and Brent Bowman.
“We dominated most of the game and it was good to get new players some minutes and see how our youths stood up to the pace of senior football. Being in the final is just the start of our ambitious plans for the season ahead and we definitely have a triple in our sights” commented One Love’s Javon Carty.
In the meantime, One Love will await the winner of the semi-final between Sugar Boys FC and VG Utd on Sunday, October 1, at the Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground.
The Virgin Gorda, El Classico, will take place at 6.00 p.m. kick-off time and is expected to attract a bumper crowd as the two teams are set to battle with the chance to lift the first of the season silverware at stake.
To reach this stage the Sugar Boys received a bye, but VG Utd had to face a resurgent Old Madrid last Sunday, coming out 5-0 winners.
“It was a good game, our team played well, the plans are coming to fruition and the players gelling well for the season” noted Sugar Boys Manager Jermain Abrams.
He added, “I’m pleased with the defense, we have kept two shutouts and scored goals at the other end. The youngsters are really stepping up and we should be at full strength on Sunday, with some players back from holiday. We still have a few things to put in place, but we are looking forward to the derby against Sugar Boys.”
