BVI AIMING TO DEFEAT DOMINICA TO TOP NATIONS LEAGUE GROUP

The British Virgin Islands men’s senior football team will be aiming for victory against Dominica in their CONCACAF Nations League group match today in St. Lucia.

The BVI will enter the game against Dominica on a high after ending a 19-year-long winless streak in international matches following their victory against the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) on September 9.

It was also the team’s first-ever Nations League win since entering the competition.

A win for the BVI will move the team to the top of the standings in League C, Group C of the Nations League, as they are currently second to Dominica only by goal difference, with both teams equally on three points.

National Coach Chris Kiwomya said his boys have been consistently improving since their game against TCI and will aim for back-to-back victories when they face Dominica at 5:00 p.m. this evening.

National captain Kavon “Troy” Caesar said while he expects tougher competition from Dominica the team will aim to execute the plans set out by the coaches to gain the intended result.

Dominica’s head coach Ellington Sabin said his team is mentally prepared and they are up for the challenge.

Meanwhile, Dominica’s Vice Captain Briel Thomas spoke about what he intends to bring to the game in rallying his team to victory.

The game will be played at the Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium in St. Lucia.
