BVI’S NAOMI ONWUFUJU CLAIMS REGIONAL TITLE OF “JUNIOR MINISTER FOR TOURISM” IN TCI

Naomi Onwufuju, the British Virgin Islands’ Junior Ambassador for Tourism, has made history by winning the regional title of “Junior Minister for Tourism” at the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s Youth Congress held in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Competing against representatives from 14 other Caribbean Islands, Onwufuju became the first Virgin Islands Ambassador to secure this prestigious title. The announcement of her success was made via a Facebook post by the BVI Tourist Board.

The Caribbean Tourism Youth Congress forms an integral part of the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) annual tourism conference. It is a regional initiative involving students aged between 14 and 17 from CTO member countries.

The main objective of the Congress is to foster greater awareness and enthusiasm about tourism among young people in Caribbean communities. It provides a platform for them to research various aspects of the tourism sector and share their ideas and vision for the future direction of Caribbean tourism.
