The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has confirmed the death of one male individual who was reportedly seen “behaving erratically” at Village Cay, Wickhams Cay 1 in the early hours of Friday, October 13th, 2023.
In a statement to the press, the RVIPF said that “police responded to a report of a male behaving erratically at Village Cay…. The male was transported to the Dr. Orlando Smith Hospital for treatment and was subsequently pronounced dead sometime after his arrival”.
Reports in circulation claiming to contain eyewitness accounts of the incident say that the man appeared to have intentionally thrown himself into the sea and that individuals in the vicinity immediately intervened after noticing that he was struggling.
At the time of this report, the identity of the deceased has not been made public.
Police are actively investigating the incident and will provide more information as it becomes available.
