BVI laser sailor Thad Lettsome says one of his main goals at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, is to deliver a good enough performance to qualify the territory for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
Lettsome is set to compete in the ILCA Men’s Laser Sailing event from Saturday, October 28 to November 5.
He created history in July 2023, by becoming the first sailor from the BVI in 30 years to qualify for the Pan Am Games, after finishing sixth overall at the CAC Games in San Salvador, El Salvador.
284 Media’s Kamal Haynes is on the grounds in Chile covering the Games and he captured Lettsome’s aspirations in an exclusive interview.
Lettsome also provided some insight into the conditions in Chile.
When asked to provide his ideal conditions for competition, Lettsome said he hopes for a nice medium breeze with swells in the range of 15 feet.
