The BVI Diabetes Association is thrilled to announce a series of engaging and informative events in November to mark Diabetes Month. These activities aim to raise awareness about diabetes, its prevention, management, and to support those affected by this chronic condition. Join us as we come together to make a difference in our community.
1. Church Service and Lunch at Loose Mongoose
– Kick-off the month with a special church service at The Methodist Church, East End followed by a delicious lunch at the Loose Mongoose. We encourage all community members to join us in prayer and fellowship on 5th November at 9am.
2. Daily Radio Information on ZBVI’s “The Almanac”
– Tune in to ZBVI’s radio program, “The Almanac,” throughout November for daily updates, expert insights, and essential information about diabetes, its management, and the latest research.
3. PopUp Screenings
– Look out for our amazing team and volunteers as we host a series of PopUp Screenings that covers Diabetes, Blood Pressure, Cholesterol and Educational sessions that will be held throughout the communities, schools and businesses.
4. Annual Elton George’s Run/Walk
– Lace up your sneakers and participate in the annual Elton George’s Run/Walk on 11th November at 5:30am. The run/walk starts at the CBR Tortola Pier Park towards Sea Cows Bay and back. Get active, raise awareness, and show your support for diabetes prevention.
5. Paint the Town Blue
– Throughout the month, we encourage local businesses and individuals to “Paint the Town Blue” by decorating their storefronts or wearing blue in solidarity with the cause. Share your photos on social media with the hashtag #BVIHopeForDiabetes.
6. Sneaker Day
– Mark your calendars for “Sneaker Day” on 17th November. Wear your sneakers to work, school, or anywhere you go, showcasing your commitment to a healthy, active lifestyle.
7. Cocktails with a Twist at the Governor’s House
– End the month with a touch of elegance. Join us for “Cocktails with a Twist” at the Governor’s House on 25th November at 6pm. Enjoy delightful beverages and exquisite company, all for a great cause.
