The Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR) has announced its 4th annual Winter Wonderland and Holiday Village, to be held at Nanny Cay.
VISAR’s Operation Manager, Phil Aspinal said “This is the fourth year of VISAR’s Winter Wonderland and it’s certainly meeting its original objectives of raising funds that are needed to ensure that we are available around the clock to provide the best possible response to a maritime distress. Why not have fun while you’re donating to a great cause?”
The event will kick off on Friday, November 24 at 5 PM and will run until the final night of skating on Saturday, December 30th.
The rink hours, costs, and child guidelines are as follows:
- Friday and Saturday: 5 PM – 10 PM
- Sunday: 5 PM – 9 PM
- Dec 18, 19, 20, 26, 27, 28: 5 PM – 9 PM
- The rink will be closed on November 27, 28, 29, 30, and December 4, 5,6, 11, 12, 13 and Christmas Day.
- A full calendar will be posted on VISAR’s Facebook page and website.
- The cost to skate is $10 per person for a 30-minute session.
Jane Tyrell, Representative for Nanny Cay Resort said “Nanny Cay Resort and Marina’s partnership with VISAR’s Winter Wonderland exemplifies our commitment to providing a safe, family-oriented holiday experience for all that visit Nanny Cay.”
Every Friday and Saturday night, the Holiday Village will come alive with food and ice cream vendors. Over five weeks, a full roster of special events will be held.
Julie Schneider from Purpose Driven Consultants said “I’m thrilled to be managing VISAR’s Winter Wonderland fundraiser for the holidays once more! This event is more than just a chance to generate much-needed funding for a worthy nonprofit organization; it’s also about establishing a setting that enables the BVI youth to acquire life skills.”
UPDATED POLICY SKATERS AGES 7 AND BELOW
VISAR has amended its policy for skaters aged seven years and younger to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Children under seven years of age may skate along with a paying adult from 5 PM – 8 PM. After 8 PM, children under seven years of age along with an adult will be allowed on the ice at the discretion of the Rink Manager and Staff. For adults who are uncomfortable on the ice, there is an alternative: for a $10 donation one of our staff members (when available) will accompany their child on the rink for the 30-minute session.
OPPORTUNITIES OPEN TO SPONSOR A SCHOOL OR COMMUNITY GROUP
Opportunities to sponsor a school or community group for skating along with advertising on one of the dasher boards are still available. For more information please contact Julie Schneider at Purpose Driven Consultants via email at Julie@purposedrivenbvi.com or call at 284.345.4801.
