Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the UK Ministry of Justice, Mike Freer MP has arrived in the Territory for a two day visit.
Freer, who is responsible for Courts and Legal Services, is tasked with gaining a better understanding of the legal and justice systems in the BVI and identifying opportunities to build UK partnerships and support.
His Excellency the Governor, John Rankin CMG, expressed his gratitude for the Minister’s visit, stating, “I am grateful to the Minister for taking the time to visit the BVI. Over the next few days, I hope the Minister will be able to learn more about the judicial system in the BVI and see first-hand the challenges which law enforcement agencies face.”
During his visit, Minister Freer will meet key individuals within the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force and at His Majesty’s Prison.
He will also meet with the Attorney General, Director of Public Prosecutions, and Members of the Judiciary. These meetings will provide him with a comprehensive overview of the BVI’s judicial system and its law enforcement agencies.
