Police Commissioner Mark Collins has made allegations of an ongoing campaign by factions of the local press aimed at discrediting him in his role.
This statement was made in response to a direct question posed to him: “Do you have an ongoing war with the media?”, during a recent appearance on Tola Radio.
When asked why such a campaign would exist, Collins suggested that the question should be posed to those purportedly carrying it out, referring to those responsible for the articles he believes are aimed at discrediting him.
Despite this, Collins said he remains undeterred and committed to his role. He emphasized his determination to continue delivering on his mandate as Police Commissioner, irrespective of any purported detractors.
Collins also expressed his belief that public confidence in the police force has increased since he assumed office. He noted that there has been a noticeable improvement in the public’s willingness to cooperate with the police force under his leadership. However, he was also quick to acknowledge that there is still room for improvement.
