Premier Dr. the Honourable Natalio Wheatley has emphasized the importance of reshaping the relationship between the Overseas Territories and the United Kingdom, as well as developing a new strategy for the UK’s engagement with the Overseas Territories. These are the primary objectives for the upcoming Joint Ministerial Council meetings.
Dr. Wheatley, along with Deputy Premier Lorna Smith OBE, will be attending these meetings in the UK from November 13th to 15th. The Premier recently outlined the BVI delegation’s plans for the meetings at a press conference.
One of the key points Dr. Wheatley highlighted was the intention to engage David Rutley, the UK Minister for Overseas Territories, in discussions about public registers.
In preparation for the meeting, Dr. Wheatley has also shared a list of crucial considerations that he believes the UK should take into account to enhance its relationship with the Overseas Territories. He has called for increased respect and support in various areas.
