In the recently conducted Just for the Record series: First 100 Days by 284 Media, Deputy Premier of the Virgin Islands Honourable Lorna Smith, spoke directly to the BVI attracting investment.
Hon. Smith reiterated two areas she spoke about on the campaign trail that are still of grave concern to her. Namely, the BVI’s infrastructure and waste management.
She said the BVI will be unable to attract the type of investment it needs if the country is not cleaned up and its infrastructure is not at the level to which it needs to be.
Additionally, the minister of trade spoke adamantly about the rules that she said are simply “flouted” in the territory and not adhered to, even in the area of trade.
