Kadeem Maynard, son of the former BVI Ports Authority boss Oleanvine Maynard, was sentenced on Monday to serve 57 months in prison after previously pleading guilty to one count of conspiring with former Premier Andrew Fahie and his mother, to import cocaine into the United States.
The lenient sentencing for the 32-year-old is part of his plea-deal agreement to assist authorities in further investigations relating to the case.
According to court documents, Kadeem and his mother Oleanvine signed off on a Factual Proffer which stated that between March 16, 2022, and April 28, 2022, they both, along with Premier Fahie conspired with each other and an undercover Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent who was disguised as a member of the Mexican Sinaloa Cartel, to ship thousands of kilograms of cocaine through Tortola to the United States.
Kadeem is the first of the three defendants to be sentenced in the case and Oleanvine will be the next to know her fate at her sentencing date on January 18, 2024.
Premier Fahie remains the only defendant who has pleaded not guilty in the case and his trial after numerous postponements is scheduled for January 8, 2024.
Fahie who is currently on bail is charged with conspiracy to import cocaine, conspiracy to engage in money laundering, attempted money laundering, and interstate and foreign travel in aid of racketeering.
