TURNBULL CALLS FOR GREATER INVESTMENT IN SPORTS AND RECREATION

Honourable Melvin M. Turnbull, Second District Representative, is urging the Government of the Virgin Islands to devote more resources and attention towards developing sports and recreation in the territory. He maintains the current budget allocation remains inadequate to properly foster local athletic talent.

During recent budget proceedings, Turnbull acknowledged a revised $556,000 recreation facility expenditure, up from $100,000. However, he stressed that substantially more funding is required to transform the sporting landscape.

Turnbull highlighted the potential evidenced in recent years as Virgin Islands athletes made their names on the international stage.
