HODGE & SMITH BREAK 20-Y/O U.S HIGH SCHOOL NATIONAL RECORD IN THE 4X400M RELAY

The British Virgin Islands’ Adaejah Hodge and the United States Virgin Islands’ Michelle Smith helped their Montverde Academy college to a new high school national record in the 4×400-meter indoors relay at the VA Showcase event last weekend.

Competing against Bullis School on Saturday in a final that was set to feature three teams, Montverde Academy stormed to the finish with a time of 3:37.63 seconds, erasing a nearly 20-year-old record formerly held by Long Beach Poly.

Hodge and Smith were accompanied by Alivia Williams and Skyler Franklin, a group of three seniors and a sophomore who officially split 54.10, 53.79, 54.75 and 55.00 seconds.

Here’s a look at those highlights.

Earlier at the event, Hodge ran a U.S. No. 4 all-time performance at the 300-meter distance to win that race in a time of 36.97 seconds.

Hodge also ran a U.S. No. 9 all-time performance in the girls’ 60-meter final with a time of 7.24 seconds, finishing second to Mia Brahe-Pedersen who won in 7.22 seconds.
