HIS LEGACY WILL LIVE ON – PREMIER AND HOA MEMBERS REMEMBER THE LATE MALONE

Members of the House of Assembly honoured the life and legacy of former legislator Carvin Malone during a special sitting of the House of Assembly on Thursday, January 25.

Legislators from both the Government and Opposition sides took the floor to reflect on the memories that Malone left with each of them from their respective points of view.

Premier Dr. the Honourable Natalio Wheatley used one of Malone’s favourite quotes from Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar to emphasize his point that the good Malone has done will never be forgotten.

Premier Wheatley said Malone’s legacy will continue to live on not only through him but through Malone’s family and other members of the BVI community.

The premier also reflected on Malone’s tenure as Minister of Health and Social Development.

He revealed that it initially took some convincing to get the former legislator on board with accepting the ministry, but once in the role, Dr. Wheatley said Malone fell in love with all that came from the ministry.

Dr. Wheatley also spoke about Malone’s love for the senior citizens which he often referred to as his Golden Gems.

He said it was one of the many areas of responsibility that Malone was passionate about, with the others including captaining the battle during the COVID-19 pandemic, the removal of derelict vehicles from the territory, recycling and solid waste management, and most recently his One VI Agenda.

Meanwhile, Junior Minister for Tourism, Honourable Luce Hodge-Smith spoke about Malone’s love for photography, referring to Malone as Mr. Paparazzi.
