The Eslyn Henley Richiez Learning Centre Apprenticeship Programme will be expanding to involve more local businesses following the success of the programme.
Principal of the Eslyn Henley Richiez Learning Centre, Madgaline Allister made the announcement during a recent Government Information Services (GIS) featured programme, as she informed the public on the progress of the apprenticeship programme to date.
She spoke about the initial launch and the reception from local businesses that immediately jumped on board with the initiative.
RiteWay Food Markets and Delta Petroleum Limited are among the businesses to be involved in the programme to date and Principal Allister put other businesses on notice that officials from the school will be reaching out soon as part of plans to expand the initiative.
The programme also consisted of innovative features including mock job interviews, where students with the assistance of their teachers, parents and guardians, completed job applications and resumes.
Special Education Officer Elaine Lewis said the students were exceptional during the exercise.
Meanwhile, School Counselor Tarriesha Dawson said it was a seamless process in transitioning the students from the school environment to the workforce.
