In response to anticipated adverse weather conditions, the Ministry of Education following advice from the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) has issued a directive for all public schools in the territory to remain closed on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
The decision according to the Ministry of Education was made to prioritize the safety of students and staff as heavy rain, high winds, and reduced visibility are expected to impact the territory throughout the day.
Orlandette Crabbe, the Acting Chief Education Officer, conveyed the news to parents and community members in a letter, urging students and teachers to remain at home during the inclement weather. The DDM’s advisory prompted this proactive measure to mitigate potential risks associated with the forecasted weather conditions.
In light of the closures, educators are encouraged to leverage online platforms to issue assignments and facilitate continued learning. The aim is to minimize disruptions to students’ education while ensuring their safety remains paramount.
In closing, Crabbe extended gratitude for the understanding and cooperation of parents, community members, and educators.
“We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in prioritizing the well-being of our school community,” expressed Acting CEO Crabbe.
