VG UTD CRUISES TO SIXTH CONSECUTIVE VICTORY – DOMINATES SUGAR BOYS FC

In a resounding display of dominance, VG United secured their sixth consecutive win with a commanding 4-1 victory over island rivals, Sugar Boys FC, in the National Football League.

Playing on neutral turf at the Greenland Football Field on Sunday, February 11, the match saw stellar performances, including a brace from Joel Mars and goals from Adrian Padilla and Jadon Abrams.

By halftime, VG Utd had already established a three-goal lead, further extending it to four mid-way through the second half. The victory not only secured bragging rights but it also propelled VG United to an enviable position in the National League standings.

Manager Jermain Abrams expressed satisfaction with the team’s consistent performance over the past few weeks, emphasizing the significance of scoring the crucial goals against Sugar Boys FC. Despite the win, Abrams remains grounded, acknowledging the long journey ahead in the competition.

With this triumph, VG United now enjoys a seven-point lead at the top of the points table, with Wolues FC trailing behind but holding two games in hand. Islanders FC sits in third place with 17 points, while Sugar Boys FC occupies the fourth spot with 16 points.

In the other thrilling encounter on Saturday, Marcus Butler’s impressive double ensured Panthers FC salvaged a 2-2 draw against One Love FC. Butler netted an equalizer in the 30th minute after Latreil Williams had given One Love FC the lead in the 25th minute. He struck again in the 78th minute to level the score after Johari Lacey had put One Love FC ahead in the 34th minute.

Manager and Coach Javon Carty of One Love FC acknowledged the competitive nature of the game and expressed satisfaction with the goals from youngsters Johari and Latreil. Panthers FC Coach Stany Francis, while recognizing the missed opportunities, praised his team’s overall performance and anticipates significant achievements in upcoming games.

The National League continue this weekend with 4 games set to take place.

On Saturday, February 17, Old Madrid FC will face Positive FC at 7:00 p.m. while on Sunday in the doubleheader, Rebels FC will play Panthers FC at 6:00 p.m., followed by Wolues FC versus Lion Heart FC at 8:30 p.m. All the aforementioned games will be played at the Greenland Football Field, with the latter two games to be televised on CCT Live Channel 284.

Over at the Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground on Sunday, Sugar Boys FC will face Islanders FC at 8:00 p.m.

There is also a Wednesday game involving Rebels FC and Old Madrid at Greenland at 7:00 p.m.
