ROAD WORKS UNDERWAY FROM HODGES CREEK TO PARAQUITA BAY

The Government of the Virgin Islands has announced the commencement of road works on 3,813 linear feet of concrete roadway from Hodges Creek to Paraquita Bay.

Honourable Kye M. Rymer, Minister for Communications and Works, revealed this in a recent statement as he expressed the government’s commitment to executing and completing road improvement works and rectifying defects. He stated, “The Road Rehabilitation Project from Hodge’s Creek to Paraquita Bay is expected to last six months. We solicit the patience and caution of motorists and residents as we continue ‘Building a Better Road Network One Project at a Time’.”

Northam Construction has been awarded the contract to undertake the project, with a budget of Two Million Three Hundred and Eighty-Six Thousand, Fifteen Dollars and Ninety-Nine Cents (US$2,386,015.99).

Mr. Duane Fraites, Chief of Infrastructure and Development in the ministry, outlined the scope of work as follows:

  • Demolition and excavation works to remove the existing asphalt road layer
  • Construction of manholes, interceptor drains, piping, and other drainage systems
  • Construction of retaining wall structures
  • Earthworks, compaction, and installation of road base
  • Construction of new reinforced concrete roadway and entrance pavement
  • Facilitating works for all utilities and telecommunication companies and make good to all services
