Mr. Mervin Hastings has been appointed Acting Labour Commissioner in the Department of Labour and Workforce Development.
Mr. Hastings’ appointment follows the retirement of former Labour Commissioner, Ms. Michelle Mclean and is effective March 1, 2024 for a period of two months, or until the vacancy is filled.
Mrs McLean has spent 12 years at the Labour Department, with the last two-plus years in the capacity of Labour Commissioner for some two-plus years and
She has served as a public servant for 36 years.
The new Acting Labour Comissioner brings 34 years of experience in the Public Service to this role, having served as Acting Deputy Chief Conservation and Fisheries Officer from 2010 to 2020 and as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change for the past 3 years.
