Minister for Communications and Works, Honourable Kye Rymer, is currently spearheading a delegation from the British Virgin Islands at the prestigious Seatrade Cruise Global 2024 event.
Held in Miami, Florida, from April 8 to April 11, Seatrade Cruise Global is renowned as the world’s foremost annual gathering for the cruise industry, attracting top executives, stakeholders, and influential figures from around the globe.
The BVI delegation comprises representatives from key entities including the BVI Ports Authority, the BVI Tourist Board, and private sector partners. Their primary objective is to fortify existing relationships with cruise partners while also forging new collaborations within the worldwide cruise market.
Minister Rymer underscored the significance of the territory’s participation at Seatrade Cruise Global, emphasizing its commitment to fostering long-term partnerships within the cruise industry to drive mutual growth and success. He highlighted the BVI’s recent achievements, notably a record-breaking increase of over 90,000 passengers in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period last year.
Joining Minister Rymer is Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works, Mrs. Elvia Smith-Maduro. Mrs. Smith-Maduro emphasized the BVI’s representation at a Caribbean Spotlight Session, where discussions will delve into the region’s tourism landscape and spotlight the BVI’s role in promoting sustainable tourism development.
Throughout Seatrade Cruise Global, the VI delegation will engage in a spectrum of activities, including networking with industry leaders, participating in educational workshops and sessions, and showcasing the unique allure of the Virgin Islands as a premier cruise destination.
The territory aims to solidify its position in the global cruise market while exploring new opportunities and partnerships to foster growth and sustainability for the Virgin Islands.
