A truck has overturned at Sophie Bay leaving the road littered with debris just as many Virgin Islanders are preparing to leave their homes.
Motorists on Tortola, particularly those traveling to or from East End on the morning of Friday, 26 April, are urged to take precautions during their morning commute and consider alternate routes.
Details surrounding the incident are still developing and the Fire and Rescue Service is at the scene at the time of this report.
Update:
2:30 pm: Road has reopened.
12:00 pm: The Police have confirmed that there were no fatalities recorded as a result of this incident, while the driver of the truck did sustain minor injuries.
The road remains closed as of 12:00pm.
8:07 am: The Sophie Bay Road has been closed temporarily.
“Due to an overturned truck in Sophie Bay, the road will be closed temporarily. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes. Any inconvenience caused is regretted”, said the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force.
