Serious Accident in West End Tortola Causes Road Blockage and Power Outage

Motorists heading to the west end of Tortola are facing significant delays following a serious accident that has rendered the main road to Frenchman’s Cay and the Ferry Terminal impassable.

The incident, which took place around 6:00 p.m., involved two vehicles. According to witnesses, one vehicle sustained minor damage to its rear, while the other vehicle, identified as the cause of the accident, suffered substantial damage after colliding with a pole. The impact was so severe that it split the pole.

As a result of the accident, the area has experienced a community-wide electricity outage. Emergency services, including ambulance personnel, were quick to respond and the male driver of the more severely damaged vehicle was transported to the Dr. D Orlando Smith Hospital for minor treatment.

Members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force and the BVI Electricity Corporation are currently on the scene, working to manage the situation.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible and seek alternative routes while the road remains closed and efforts are underway to restore power.
