INCREASED CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS DUE TO TROPICAL WAVE

A tropical wave passing through the British Virgin Islands is expected to bring increased moisture and instability, heightening the likelihood of showers and possible thunderstorms over the next 24 hours.

This is according to a weather forecast published by the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services on Friday, September 6.

Throughout the course of today, partly cloudy skies are expected with periods of increased cloudiness and a 70 percent chance of showers, some of which could be heavy at times. Tonight, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will persist, accompanied by moderate to locally heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms.

The winds are expected to be from the east at speeds of 7 to 22 kilometres per hour(5 to 14 mph), occasionally becoming lighter and variable. Mariners should anticipate seas ranging from 1.2 to 1.8 meters (4 to 6 feet), so caution is advised for those heading out to sea.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed of the latest weather updates, as conditions may change rapidly with the passing tropical wave.
