BVI’S LEROY ABRAHAM APPOINTED CEO OF GRENADA ELECTRICITY SERVICES (GRENLEC)

Former Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the BVI Electricity Corporation Mr. Leroy Abraham has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer for Grenlec in Grenada.

His appointment was announced in an official press release from the organization, which stated, “Grenada Electricity Services Ltd. (Grenlec) is pleased to announce the appointment of Leroy A E Abraham as Grenlec’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective Tuesday, 1 October 2024. Mr. Abraham brings a wealth of experience to the role, being a chartered Engineer and a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. He also holds the distinction of being a Chartered Director and is the former Chairman of CARELEC.”

The released further stated, “With his extensive expertise and leadership, Grenlec is excited about the future and looks forward to working with Mr. Abraham, to achieve its shared goals.”

Mr Abraham retired from the BVI Electricity Corporation in December 2022, after serving as CEO for some 22 years and an overall 35 years with BVIEC.

Abraham made his history after being the first Virgin Islander to be appointed Chairman of CARELEC. CARILEC, the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation, is an association of electric energy solution providers operating in the electricity industry in the Caribbean, Central and Southern Americas.

As head of BVIEC Abraham was commended for his exceptional leadership that lead to effective response after natural disasters in the BVI.
