MSME CONFERENCE EMPOWERS ENTREPRENEURS IN THE BVI

On Saturday, November 16, 2024, Republic Bank hosted its highly anticipated second MSME Conference, bringing together entrepreneurs and business owners from across the British Virgin Islands. The conference aimed to address the unique needs and aspirations of Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs), providing a continuous platform for knowledge sharing, networking, and empowerment.

Marion Blyden, Republic Bank’s Managing Director, welcomed attendees, acknowledging the crucial role MSMEs play in the BVI’s economy. “You, the small business owners, are the lifeblood of the BVI, and we’re honoured to support you every step of the way. Whether you’re just starting out, expanding, or looking to take your business to the next level, we believe in your potential and are here to help you realise your vision,” she emphasised.

The conference featured a power-packed agenda, with expert sessions on financial planning, accessing capital, compliance, customer service, marketing your business, and business coaching. These topics were carefully selected to address real-world challenges and opportunities that MSMEs encounter on their business journey.

Attendees appreciated the valuable information shared and the opportunity to connect with like-minded entrepreneurs. Republic Bank’s commitment to providing tailored support for the MSME niche market in the BVI was clearly evident throughout the conference.

Mr. Michael Smith of Mossed up Inc commented, “The information shared was so relevant to where I am in my business right now. I feel equipped with new strategies and insights to take my business to the next level.”

Building on the Bank’s commitment to empower MSMEs, Republic Bank recently unveiled an MSME lending programme in June 2024 designed for businesses that may lack collateral, have no history of banking or borrowing records, and cannot provide traditional financial documents or records. This programme provides MSMEs with access to crucial funds, supporting their growth and contributing to the overall economic resilience of the BVI.
