WOLUES FC EXTENDS WINNING STREAK TO REMAIN TOP OF THE TABLE

Defending champions Wolues FC kicked off 2025 on a high note, defeating Panther FC 2-1 to maintain their undefeated streak and top spot in the National Football League standings with 23 points.

In the first match of Sunday’s doubleheader at the Greenland Football Stadium, Kiran Bown proved instrumental for Wolues, netting both goals for the champions. Bown opened the scoring early in the 8th minute, but Panther FC’s Nigel Sanderson—currently the league’s leading scorer—equalized with a penalty in the 65th minute. As the match seemed destined for a draw, Bown sealed the victory with an 82nd-minute strike.

In the second game, Virgin Gorda United (VG United) overwhelmed Positive FC 4-1. Ikyjah Williams got VG United off to a flying start with goals in the 2nd and 9th minutes. Joel Mars and Jaadon Quashie added to the tally in the 36th and 62nd minutes, respectively. Positive’s Angel Welch managed to pull one back in the 27th minute, but it was not enough to halt VG United’s dominance.

Action continued at the Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground on Sunday, where Rebels FC secured a 3-1 victory over bottom-placed Avengers FC in the day’s opener.

Meanwhile, Lion Heart FC consolidated their 3rd place position with a 3-1 win against Old Madrid FC. A brace from Cee Jay Lampart (1st and 56th minutes) and a goal from Tyrone Buddah were enough to see off Old Madrid, who sit in 9th place.

Saturday’s lone match saw Islanders FC and One Love United battle to an entertaining 2-2 draw at Greenland. Both teams walked away with a point, leaving Islanders in 4th place and One Love in 6th.
