HON. WALWYN AND STEVENS VINDICATED; COURT RULES NO CASE TO ANSWER

Senior Magistrate Tamia Richards has ruled “No Case to Answer” in the case against Sixth District Representative Hon. Myron Walwyn and former public servant Lorna Stevens in relation to the Elmore Stoutt High School Wall Project.

The ruling, delivered on Tuesday, January 21, effectively clears both Walwyn and Stevens of any wrongdoing in the high-profile case.

Hon. Walwyn, who was represented by Attorney Terrance Williams, and Stevens, who was represented by Valston Graham, have maintained their innocence since charges were filed.

The case stems from allegations surrounding the construction of a perimeter wall at Elmore Stoutt High School. Walwyn was one of three individuals charged following a 2020 criminal investigation into the project. The other accused were Kelvin Thomas, 55, of Chalwell Estate, and Stevens, a former public officer.

In 2021, a specialist investigative team was appointed to conduct a thorough review of the police investigation into the project. The charges brought against Walwyn and Stevens were part of the fallout from that review.

While the judgment marks a significant development, further updates are expected regarding the implications of the ruling and the status of the charges against Kelvin Thomas.

Hon. Walwyn, who has previously expressed confidence in his innocence, has not yet issued a statement following the court’s decision. The case has drawn significant public attention, given Walwyn’s position as a high-profile public servant and elected representative.
