Opposition legislator Hon. Myron Walwyn has criticized Premier Dr. the Hon. Natalio Wheatley’s leadership, suggesting the premier does not fully grasp the responsibilities of his role.
Speaking at a press conference alongside the six members of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition, Walwyn condemned recent actions by the government that he described as exclusionary and dismissive.
Walwyn pointed to the premier’s omission of the Opposition from key events, such as the recent Tourism Summit, as evidence of a lack of inclusivity in governance.
Additionally, he criticized the government for hosting the Speech from the Throne in a venue that excluded the public from witnessing the traditional proceedings.
Eighth District Representative Hon. Marlon Penn echoed Walwyn’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of separating party politics from national governance. He expressed disappointment at the government’s failure to involve the public in national events and questioned its commitment to transparency and accountability.
The comments come amid ongoing debates about governance and the relationship between the ruling Virgin Islands Party Administration and the wider community.
