Wolues Football Club surged back to the top of the BVI Football Association (BVIFA) National League standings after securing a 3-0 victory over One Love United at the Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground on Sunday, February 2.
Entering the match level on points (26) with Virgin Gorda United but trailing on goal difference, Wolues knew they needed a win to take control of the league table. After a goalless first half, Kieran Bown broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute, paving the way for a dominant finish. Hugo Liziario doubled the lead in the 83rd minute before Alexander Edwards sealed the win with a penalty in the 89th. The victory lifts Wolues to 29 points, while VG United, who did not play over the weekend, remain on 26 points.
Lion Heart Crushes Avengers in Seven-Goal Rout
In the opening game at Virgin Gorda, Lion Heart FC put on a dominant display, dismantling Avengers FC 7-0. Tyrone Buddah stole the show with four goals (20th, 46th, 59th, 90’+2), while Kelvin Thompson, Brod Gibbs, and Claudius Felix also found the back of the net. With the win, Lion Heart climbs to third place with 24 points.
Sugar Boys and Positive FC Secure Commanding Wins
Meanwhile, at the Greenland Football Stadium, Sugar Boys FC cruised past Rebels FC with a convincing 4-1 win. Captain Derrol Redhead opened the scoring early with two quick goals (3rd, 9th), followed by strikes from Andres Bailey (14th) and Rolland Roberts (86th). Rebels’ lone goal came from Ervince Lockhart in the 55th minute.
In the final match of the evening at Greenland, Positive FC overpowered Old Madrid FC 5-2 in a one-sided contest. Angel Welch (3rd), Andial Tyril (5th), Adrian Atkinson (10th), and Damian Bent (40th, 87th) secured the victory, while Old Madrid’s goals came from Carl Stewart (67th) and Kenmore Peters (89th).
