It was announced today February 25th, 2025 by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution that Akeem Hopkinson was found guilty of the murder of Catherine Pickering.
The matter involves the robbery of Maricel Pickering of Two Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifty Dollars United States Currency (US$2,950.00) and the unconscionable murder of Catherine Pickering.
Eight persons were indicted by the Director of Public Prosecutions for different roles played in the commission of these offenses:
-Hopkinson was indicted for Murder, Robbery, Possession of a prohibited firearm, and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. He was found guilty by a jury on all counts..
-Shemar Robinson was indicted for robbery, which he planned with Hopkinson and Grant and plead guilty.
-K’Shoy Alexander, Richard Haripersad and Jordon Jackson were all indicted with Akeem Hopkinson and Grant for possession of a prohibited firearm.
-Teffiny Smith and Tyann Smith plead guilty for assisting offenders for hiding the firearm used in the offence which was never recovered.
Shameek Grant was acquitted after the Judge upheld that he had no case to answer.
