TURNBULL ISSUES PUBLIC APOLOGY TO MINISTER DE CASTRO

Representative for the Second District, Hon. Melvin Mitch Turnbull, has publicly apologized to the Minister of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, Hon. Sharie De Castro, for remarks made toward her during a recess period of the February 11 House of Assembly sitting.

During the House of Assembly session on Monday, February 24, Turnbull rose on a point of privilege to acknowledge the matter and confirm that he had previously issued a letter of apology to Minister De Castro on February 12, the day after the remarks were made.

In addressing the House, Turnbull expressed deep regret for his words, acknowledging that they were perceived as derogatory, though emphasizing that it was not his intent to offend the minister.

He proceeded to read the contents of his apology letter before the House, reaffirming his respect for Minister De Castro and all women.
