Anguilla to have first female premier

The Anguilla United Front has won eight of the 11 seats in the Anguilla House of Assembly, securing a majority to form the island’s new government.

The AUF’s winning candidates are party leader Cora Richardson Hodge, Shellya Rogers, Cordell Richardson, Cardigan Connor, Kyle Hodge, José Vanterpool, Evans McNiel Rogers and Jeison Bryan.

Richardson Hodge will become Anguilla’s first female premier.

Former premier Ellis Webster, Merrick Richardson and former tourism and infrastructure minister Haydn Hughes of the Anguilla Progressive Movement will form the official opposition.

More to come on the story.
