BAUGHER’S BAY MAN CHARGED AFTER HIGH-SPEED CHASE

A Baugher’s Bay man has been arrested and charged following a high-speed chase that ended in Sea Cows Bay on Monday, February 24, 2025.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) confirmed that Morgan Maduro, 20, has been charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Drug and Reckless and Negligent Act after attempting to evade police in a heavily tinted Suzuki Jimny.

According to the RVIPF, officers were patrolling the Lower Estate area when they observed the vehicle with its registration plates obscured by a dark film. Upon signalling the driver to stop, the vehicle sped off, prompting a pursuit. The chase ended at Bound Tree Road in Sea Cows Bay, where officers successfully intercepted the vehicle.

A search of both the driver and the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 24.7 grams of cannabis, leading to Maduro’s arrest. He has since been granted bail in the sum of $5,000 and is scheduled to appear before the Magistrate’s Court on April 10, 2025.

The RVIPF has indicated that additional charges for traffic violations are pending. Authorities are reminding motorists to comply with traffic regulations and stop when signalled by officers. The public is also encouraged to report reckless driving or traffic violations by calling 311 or the RVIPF’s Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.
